Learning English with Javkhaa

[Replace with YouTube embedded video]

Hello everyone!

My name is Javkhaa, and I am from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Currently I am visiting friends in the city of Boston, in the United States.

As we know, English is one of the most important skills to master. Did you know that approximately 1.3 billion people worldwide speak English as either their first or second language? Or that English is the most common language used in education, business and travel? For those of us who believe that “information is power,” mastering English is the key to opening the doors to the power of information.

Based on my own experience, it is hard for Mongolians to begin to learn English because there is very limited learning material designed specifically for Mongolian speakers. It is especially hard for children, who may want to learn English, but do not know how to start.

Myself, I began the journey of learning English by watching sub-titled movies, listening to music, talking to people in English, and writing down new words I learned in notebooks I carried with me everywhere. Once I reached an intermediate level, I was able to read the news, listen to radio, and take additional English language courses.

Looking back, I wish I had had better materials to help me begin to learn English, as that would have made the learning process faster and easier for me at that time.

I’ve created this YouTube video series to help Mongolians, with a particular focus on children, who want to learn English. I’m starting at the very beginning, assuming no background in English at all, and will provide the building blocks to allow you to reach an intermediate level in English over time.

In this video series, I will help you learn

  1. Alphabet. The 26 letters of the English alphabet, which is different from the Cyrillic alphabet we use in Mongolian.
  2. Pronunciation. How to recognize and pronounce English language sounds.
  3. Everyday conversation. How to greet and interact with people in English.
  4. Vocabularies. The most important English words you need to know as you build your English skills.
  5. Grammar. Basic English grammar to help you understand others and be understood.

To make the lessons more interesting, I will be joined from time to time by my native English-speaking friends.

Learning English together is not hard, as long as you can commit to spending about 30 minutes each day watching my videos and practicing what you have learned. If you do this, I promise you will get great results. So good luck everyone!
